V-Day

Valentine's Day (weekend) was great! We went to a very nice restaraunt for dinner on Friday night. This was the type that had a separate room for your appertif (before dinner drink) and menu selection. They have only one sitting for the evening, so you make a reservation but don't have to show up at an exact time. It was quite nice. It was a group of 5 of us. The appetizer was two types of foi gras, which I normally love. But this time, one of the two was quite strong. Other than that, dinner was great.

On Saturday we had a nice breakfast together at my place. I went downstairs to get some fresh bread, and picked up the flowers and orchid I had ordered the week before. She was surprised! After breakfast we went shopping. In the afternoon we went for a little picnic in the mountains. I know a great spot with a terrific view. We used a picnic bag my family gave me for Christmas. It was fantastic! We had some cheeses, fresh bread, foi gras, and champagne (and it all fit in the picnic bag).

Hope everyone else out there had a great V-Day!!

notes

The weather rcently has been much nicer. It's strange to think that just over 1 week ago it was snowing heavily for days. We've had clear sunny days most of this week. The sunsets have been gorgeous.

My friend Travis recently put up a blog of some of the notes he had taken on things he wanted to publish and never got around to. I thought I would do the same.

Christmas shopping was alot of fun this year. The city puts christmas lights up all over town. Everybody is out shopping everywhere at the little shops (there really aren't any 'malls' here. The downside was that mailing packages is quite expensive, and paying taxes on the things friends sent me sucked too. For Christmas I bought time at a recording studio for Angel so she could record a cd. I'll post a couple of her songs here once she records them.

My neighbor is a doctor who donates her time to 3rd world countries. She left for Africa for 4 to 6 months and gave me her parking space in our building. Since I didn't have a reserved space this was a wonderful gift!

Several mornings in a row on my way to work I would pass underneath an overpass and see a guy standing there with his back, just looking down at the traffic. I assumed he just stopped there on his way to work, and we were passing by each other at the same time. The I started going to work earlier for french classes (they start at 7 am now). He was there then too! Then one morning I went to work much later than normal, and saw him again! How strange? Is this guy standing there for 3 hours every morning just watching the traffic go by? Another morning I went by at the normal time again and it was pouring rain, he was still there standing in the rain. I have seen him since. Not sure what the deal with him was...
